Shingle Types

3 -tab - the shingle most associated with roofing. These are available in a wide variety of colors, but the shape remains the same single tab shape. 3-tab shingles are sometimes referred to as a strip shingle, with a simplistic look, they lie flat against the roof decking. They create a fresh look, creating perfectly neat lines on the roof. These types of shingles are aesthetically pleasing while remaining extremely cost-effective.

Architectural - architectural shingles will add a beautiful dimension to your roof, which is why they are often referred to as dimensional shingles. Durability and longevity are phenomenal, as these types of shingles are made with heavier construction, weighing a good deal more than 3-tab shingles without increasing the load on the structure (when professionally installed). 

They are thicker than 3-tab shingles because they are made of multiple layers, which provides them with dimensional stability. An overall excellent choice for the coastal homes of our area because of their durability.

Designer - designer shingles can not only tie the look of your Florida home together, but they can transform the aesthetic appeal of your home! They offer beauty, depth, and extreme durability. 

These shingles can mimic other roofing materials such as cedar shake or natural slate without excessive maintenance and cost. They cost more than standard 3-tab shingles and architectural shingles. However, the benefits far outweigh the cost. They offer excellent protection against a variety of elements commonly faced here, like hurricanes, high winds, extreme heat, and more.

Florida Native Roofing Contractor, Inc. tears off the existing roof down to the bare sheathing. We then diagnose all lumber and replace any structural damaged wood. We re-nail all sheathing with 8D ring shank nails per the Florida building code. We inspect all existing flashing and replace it if it's needed.

We only use a peel-n-stick underlayment that adheres directly to the sheathing for the best moisture barrier. Peel-n-stick gets a "secondary water barrier" credit on your homeowner's insurance and re-nailing sheathing will also get an insurance credit.

Finally, we will install your roof per manufacturer specs.
